Analysis / Bias

Off The Press aims to provide a broader range of news sources and perspectives. However, its news coverage mostly reflects a conservative perspective.

The website mostly curates and aggregates news from conservative-leaning sources such as the New York Post, Just the News, and The National Pulse. Each of these sources has a poor track record with fact-checkers. They also publish summaries of news stories that reflect their conservative bias, like this Fed’s High Interest Rates, Bidenomics Damaging Economy, Hurts Home Depot. This original story is from CNBC. Another story references the conspiracy website Gateway Pundit, which has a terrible track record with facts.

The website also features a section called “Research Locker,” where they upload PDF documents of supposed research that support its conservative narrative. For example, one such fact sheet is titled COSTS OF JOE BIDEN’S OPEN BORDER POLICIES where they blame Joe Biden for the alleged border crisis. While the document links to some credible sources for statistics, the title implies that the border is open, which is factually inaccurate

Finally, while not entirely endorsing the stolen election narrative, they do republish Donald Trump’s baseless stolen election claims without correcting him: Trump Releases Detailed Summary Of Election Fraud In 2020 Election. In general, Off the Press holds moderately strong right-leaning biases and sometimes promotes stories from poor sources.
