Funded by / Ownership

It does not publicly disclose its major donors, but its Board of Directors includes figures associated with right-leaning think tanks and organizations, including Roger Clegg (former Reagan and Bush DOJ official) and individuals tied to the Federalist Society.

Analysis / Bias

CEO exhibits a strong Right Bias, evident in both its editorial framing and source selection. It regularly criticizes diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, as well as race-conscious admissions and gender identity policies. For example, in “The Future of DEI: The Case of the Fearless Fund”, CEO supports a lawsuit challenging a grant program for Black women entrepreneurs, portraying DEI efforts as discriminatory. The piece frames race-conscious philanthropy as “antithetical to the civil rights movement’s ideal of equal treatment.”

In “President Trump Issues an Executive Order Recognizing Only Two Sexes”, CEO presents the policy approvingly and criticizes the Biden administration’s gender policies as ideologically driven. The tone is explicitly favorable toward the social conservatism of the Trump era.

CEO’s Culture and Society and Affirmative Action in Education sections include arguments against school diversity policies and pro-meritocratic admissions. One example, “She’s Not a Biologist, Just a Simple Supreme Court Justice”, cites a column from the far-right website Townhall to mock Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s approach to gender identity. Reliance on this source, known for poor factual standards, lowers CEO’s overall credibility.

While the CEO presents policy critiques that are within mainstream conservative discourse, the absence of opposing views, the selective use of sources, and highly partisan framing suggest advocacy rather than balanced journalism.
