History
Provereno.Media, translated as “Verified.Media,” is a Russian-language fact-checking organization founded by journalist Ilya Ber. According to its About page, the project investigates misinformation, viral claims, health myths, propaganda, and manipulated images and videos.
The publication was originally associated with Russia but now operates through the Estonia-registered nonprofit Faktikontrollilabor Provereno MTÜ. Estonia’s official business registry lists Ilya Ber as a management board member and beneficial owner of the nonprofit.
Provereno.Media is a verified member of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) and the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN).

Funded by / Ownership
Provereno.Media is owned by the nonprofit Faktikontrollilabor Provereno MTÜ, registered in Tallinn, Estonia. Funding comes from individual donations and grants from international charitable organizations. Provereno.Media states that it does not publicly identify all funders because some team members remain in Russia and disclosure could create security risks. During its EFCSN assessment, the organization disclosed that part of its 2024 funding came through the IFCN BUILD grant program and provided confidential financial documentation to assessors. The EFCSN found it compliant with its financial-transparency requirements.

Because Provereno.Media serves Russian-speaking audiences, a significant portion of its political fact-checking concerns Kremlin narratives and Russian disinformation.
