Factual Reporting: MIXED
Progressive Liberal is a “progressive” news website. Although it’s not clear who owns Progressive Liberal from its about page, according to a Buzzfeed article titled “Inside The Partisan Fight For Your News Feed”, Progressive Liberal is owned by a company called Income Store, which currently operates conservative and liberal websites. The article states: “Income Store launched six partisan news websites, five of which are conservative and carry names such as AmericanConservativeHerald.com, AmericanDailyPatriot.com, and MyRightAmerica.com. The lone liberal site is ProgressiveLiberal.net.”
In review, Progressive Liberal typically sources to credible sources such as PNAS.org, The New York Times, and Politico, however, they also source to factually mixed sources such as CNN and Fox News. In their headlines, they use emotionally loaded language such as ”What Is It About Our President That Makes Your Skin Crawl?” and “New Study Reveals The True Motivation Of Those Who Support Donald Trump.” Story selection always favors the left.
Overall we rate Progressive Liberal left biased based on story selection and factually mixed due to the use of some poor sources and strong emotional language that can be misleading. (M. Huitsing 5/4/2018)
