Analysis / Bias

In review, the Longview News-Journal covers local news though the use of journalists and local writers. National/International news is republished from the Associated Press. Editorials use minimally loaded words such as this: Editorial: Big increase in flu deaths makes vaccination vital and are properly sourced. Further, some editorials are republished from the left-center Houston Chronicle. When it comes to political endorsements they have endorsed both Democrats and Republicans, but certainly more Republicans in their recent history.

A factual search reveals they have never failed a fact check. In fact, they were a source for Politifact in a fact check.

Overall, we rate the Longview News-Journal on the right side of least biased due to a very slight right leaning editorial bias and high for factual reporting based on proper sourcing and a clean fact check record. (D. Van Zandt 10/16/2018)
