The News Journal Media Group launched Delaware online in 1996. Delaware Online states its focus is “to provide our readers with another product to keep them informed about news, real estate, entertainment, and much more in the state of Delaware”

Funded by / Ownership
Delaware Online is owned by Gannett (Gatehouse Media), which publishes USA Today. In August 2019, Gatehouse Media purchased and merged with Gannett becoming the largest newspaper chain in the USA. After the merger, the companies retained the Gannett name. Advertising and paid subscriptions generate revenue.
Analysis / Bias
In review, Delaware Online covers news, sports, lifestyle, and entertainment for the state of Delaware. Local news is reported with minimal loaded emotional language, such as this 25-year-old man shot near New Castle after fight breaks out at Route 13 intersection. National and international news comes from other Gannett publications and the Associated Press.
Editorially, Delaware Online does not make Presidential endorsements; however, a review of op-eds shows that both sides are represented such as this that favor the left. Overall, in viewing dozens of op-eds, we found slightly more favor a more liberal perspective. Generally, the news is reported factually and with a left-leaning editorial bias.
