History

All Rise News is an American legal and political news publication launched in April 2025 by journalists Adam Klasfeld and Tim Mak. It focuses on courts, civil liberties, government power, protests, and democratic institutions.

According to its About page, All Rise News was created as an alternative to traditional “both-sides journalism” and seeks to combine reporting with information about how readers can participate in political and legal processes. The publication describes its approach as “not left, not right – just radical.”

Adam Klasfeld is currently editor-in-chief and owner, while Tim Mak is described as a former co-founder. Klasfeld previously worked for Courthouse News, Law&Crime, and The Messenger and has contributed legal analysis to MSNBC and Just Security.

Analysis / Bias

All Rise News specializes in legal reporting, particularly litigation involving the Trump administration, civil liberties, immigration, elections, government accountability, and constitutional law.

Its political perspective strongly favors the left through story selection and framing. The publication’s mission statement describes Trumpism as a threat to democratic institutions, refers to Trump administration actions as “illegal power grabs,” and explicitly aims to help readers oppose what it considers authoritarian government actions. It also provides information about protests, contacting lawmakers, litigation, and other forms of civic engagement.

For example, ‘The Supreme Court has spoken’: Trump loses again on birthright citizenship reports on litigation surrounding executive attempts to restrict birthright citizenship. The article links directly to the federal court opinion and relies extensively on the judge’s findings and underlying legal precedent.

Likewise, The Rewind: Debunking O’Keefe’s latest sting takes a strongly negative view of conservative activist James O’Keefe, describing him as a “MAGA prankster,” while supporting its legal analysis with Alaska election law, government records, previous court cases, and an interview with election official Stephen Richer.

In Is Trump’s Kennedy Center chaos all a ‘smokescreen’?, Klasfeld reports directly from a federal court hearing and provides substantial quotations from the judge, attorneys, court filings, and public financial records. However, headlines and narrative framing consistently favor critics of the Trump administration.

All Rise News therefore differs from conventional neutral legal journalism. Its reporting is explicitly accountability-oriented and designed partly to encourage civic action against policies and government actions it views as authoritarian. This produces a clear Left bias despite the publication’s claim that it represents no political party or faction.

However, the underlying legal journalism is generally well sourced. Klasfeld frequently attends proceedings in person, links directly to court filings and judicial opinions, distinguishes quotations from analysis, and reports decisions in substantial detail. Independent reporting also confirms major legal developments covered by All Rise News, including the September 2026 federal injunction against the Trump administration’s second birthright citizenship order.
