Trump Defends Exodus of Government Lawyers

President Trump responded to a New York Times report documenting the departure of more than 10,000 federal government lawyers since late 2024 by arguing the exodus is beneficial rather than concerning. The Times reported many departing attorneys have joined organizations challenging administration policies, while Trump characterized those leaving as members of the “Deep State” and claimed many were dismissed. The report noted that several federal agencies have experienced significant reductions in legal staff, raising concerns about the government’s ability to defend policies in court. Social Media Companies Pay $27 Million in School Lawsuit

Meta, TikTok, Snap, and YouTube have agreed to pay approximately $27 million to settle a Kentucky school district’s lawsuit alleging their platforms contributed to student mental health problems and social media addiction. According to settlement records obtained by Reuters, Meta will pay $9 million, while TikTok and Snap each agreed to pay $8 million and YouTube will pay about $2 million. The settlements resolve only the Kentucky case and do not require the companies to admit wrongdoing or change platform practices, while more than 1,200 similar lawsuits remain pending nationwide.
