History

Raskrikavanje, translated as “Outcry,” is a Serbian fact-checking and media-monitoring publication operated as a project of the Crime and Corruption Reporting Network, or KRIK.

According to its About and Methodology page, Raskrikavanje investigates false and misleading reporting, media financing, government support for media outlets, and violations of professional journalistic standards.

Raskrikavanje is a verified signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) and the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN). The EFCSN currently lists RasKRIKavanje as a verified Serbian member.

Funded by / Ownership

Raskrikavanje is owned and funded through KRIK, a Serbian nonprofit investigative journalism organization founded in 2015. Its disclosed supporters include GIZ, Canal France International, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Sigrid Rausing Trust, Open Information Partnership, IFCN, and the National Endowment for Democracy. KRIK has also received support from OCCRP, the European Union, Open Society Foundations, Civil Rights Defenders, and several foreign embassies. Reader donations provide additional funding.

Analysis / Bias

Raskrikavanje primarily fact-checks Serbian media and investigates propaganda, disinformation, conspiracy theories, and media financing.

For example, Ratko Mladić died in The Hague, tabloids immediately started a fight with “blockaders”, “jihadists” and “Ustasha” documents how pro-government tabloids portrayed media accurately describing Mladić as a convicted war criminal. The article grounds its conclusions in the final judgments of the international tribunal.

In The Right-Wing Universe, Raskrikavanje investigates Serbian nationalist, pro-Russian, traditionalist, and anti-Western media. Its analysis explicitly characterizes much of this ecosystem as right-wing propaganda and documents extensive overlap between outlets such as Informer, Sputnik Serbia, RT Balkan, Srbin.info, and others. Earlier large-scale analysis also found predominantly pro-Russian and anti-Western narratives in Serbian coverage of Ukraine.

Likewise, Srbin Info and the fake tribunal that declares Covid vaccines a biological weapon carefully traces claims about mRNA vaccines to an unrecognized organization and explains why its declaration lacks scientific and legal credibility.

The publication’s strongest apparent bias is against Serbia’s nationalist, authoritarian, pro-Russian, and socially conservative media ecosystem. Its language can sometimes be pointed, and story selection favors scrutiny of the political right and pro-government media. However, its conclusions are generally evidence-based rather than partisan opinion, and Serbia’s largest disinformation networks themselves disproportionately occupy this ideological space. Raskrikavanje found more than 1,800 manipulative stories on six pro-government newspaper front pages during 2025.

Therefore, we rate Raskrikavanje Left-Center, though near the Least Biased boundary.

• None to date. Raskrikavanje maintains detailed methodology, sourcing, corrections, financial transparency, and complaint procedures required by major international fact-checking networks.

Overall, we rate Raskrikavanje Left-Center biased based on story selection and framing that primarily scrutinize Serbia’s nationalist, pro-government, pro-Russian, and socially conservative media ecosystem. We rate it High for factual reporting due to rigorous methodology, transparent sourcing and funding, a strong corrections policy, IFCN and EFCSN verification, and a clean fact-check record. (D.
