New York Court Signals Support for Social Media Reporting Law

New York’s highest court indicated that it would uphold a 2022 law requiring social media platforms to provide users with a mechanism to report offensive or hateful content. A majority of judges interpreted the statute as requiring only a general reporting tool, rather than compelling platforms to regulate protected speech or adopt specific moderation policies. FCC Approves Cybersecurity Upgrades for Emergency Alert System

The Federal Communications Commission has adopted new cybersecurity requirements designed to strengthen the Emergency Alert System against cyberattacks and unauthorized access.
