This is a good reminder that digital archives need active care. I have searched for older articles more than once, only to discover that a useful link no longer works. Even routine searches, such as looking up richmond times dispatch customer service for a subscription question, show how much readers still depend on reliable access to newspaper websites. FiveThirtyEight’s archive had value beyond current headlines because it documented how polling, elections, and public conversations were analyzed over time. Preserving that work matters for researchers, journalists, and curious readers. A redirect should not erase years of reporting from the public record.
