Founded in 2015, WesternMassNews.com is the website for television stations WGGB and WSHM, which provides news coverage for the Western Massachusetts region of the United States. The website is transparent in that they offer staff information and disclose ownership.

WesternMassNews.com is owned by the Meredith Corporation, which “owns magazines, television stations, websites, and radio stations. Meredith’s publications have a readership of more than 120 million, paid circulation of more than 40 million, and its websites have nearly 135 million monthly unique visitors. Meredith’s broadcast television stations reach 11% of U.S. households.” During its history Meredith Corporation donated the most money to Republican candidates and causes. However, beginning in 2018, they have shifted funding in favor of Democrats 87%. Revenue is derived through advertising and sponsored content.

In review, local news is handled by reporters covering crime, sports, weather, traffic, and lifestyle. National and international news is often handled by other Meredith properties as well as the Associated Press and CNN.
