Methodology for Weekly Charting of Trump’s Job Approval and Direction of Country

  1. Data Sources:
    • Trump Job Approval: Weekly polling data is collected from RealClearPolling.
    • Direction of Country: Weekly polling data for the percentage of respondents who believe the country is going in the “right direction” is sourced from RealClearPollling.
  2. Poll Selection:
    • Only polls conducted by credible pollsters are included. Credibility is determined using the MBFC credible pollsters list, which aligns with pollsters scoring 2.0 to 3.0 stars according to FiveThirtyEight’s ratings.
    • Pollsters with ratings below 2.0 or classified as poor-quality are excluded.
  3. Averaging Method:
    • A weekly average is calculated for each metric using all available polls meeting the credibility criteria.
  4. Chart Presentation:
    • Trump Job Approval and Direction of Country (Right Direction) are plotted on the same chart.
    • Each data point represents the weekly average for the respective metric.
  5. Updates:
    • Data is updated weekly to reflect the most current polling results.
