Analysis / Bias

SAN provides a variety of content, including news, opinions, and commentary. The Opinion section features both Left and Right categories, allowing readers to see different political perspectives. In contrast, the news section delivers straightforward, fact-based reporting. As seen in “Central Park 5′ Sue Donald Trump for Defamation after debate remarks,” it focuses on the factual aspects of the lawsuit without using emotionally loaded language or favoring one side. It presents the case’s details, citing the relevant legal actions, media sources such as the Associated Press (AP News), and Trump’s remarks during the debate.

The opinion pieces, however, often use strong, emotionally loaded language. For instance, titles like “Why Republicans won’t admit who won the 2020 election” or “Why noncitizens in Alabama could gain voting protections” reflect the contributors’ political leanings but don’t tend to stray into misinformation, as contributors cite credible sources even if their interpretations are influenced by their political stance.

For example, the Left Opinion section features David Pakman, a progressive commentator. His contributions, such as “Polls projecting Trump victory should alarm American voters,” feature video content and a transcript with citations. Pakman often cites sources like The Hill, The New York Times, and CNN, providing factual backing for his arguments. However, the tone of his commentary frequently positions conservatives in a negative light, aligning with his progressive stance.

On the Right, contributors like Newt Gingrich, a Fox News contributor, provide conservative perspectives. His commentary, such as “Kamala Harris really is a big-government socialist.” critiques progressive policies and typically cites sources like The Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, and conservative think tanks. Like Pakman, Gingrich uses strong, opinionated language to support his arguments.

Additionally, SAN features a Commentary section with contributors like Peter Zeihan and Dr. Frank I. Luntz, providing in-depth analysis. Craig Nigrelli, host of Unbiased Updates, summarizes major events; the show features short, factual news updates covering various current events. These updates provide neutral, straightforward summaries. The content includes quick takes on important topics like politics, global news, and other timely issues, presented in video format. For example, “Campaign 2024: Donald Trump stops at Pennsylvania McDonald’s; Stevie Wonder Joins Kamala Harris at Georgia church” offers brief, fact-based updates without additional commentary.

While SAN’s news section maintains high factual accuracy with well-sourced excerpts from mainstream outlets, its opinion content often reflects selective facts aligned with the contributor’s political stance. Generally, SAN balances political perspectives by offering a range of opinions and a Media Miss™ section highlighting underreported stories from both sides. This section is powered by Ground News, which then links directly to the different sources reporting the story. This may result in poor-quality sources being displayed, such as the Gateway Pundit.

Straight Arrow News generally provides fact-based news on its website; however, under the Media Miss section, it may direct users to low-quality sources, resulting in a mostly factual overall rating.
