History
MyGoPen is a Taiwanese fact-checking and misinformation-debunking website founded in 2015. According to its About Us page, MyGoPen was created to help elderly people and others with information gaps verify online claims, identify scams, and avoid sharing false information. The name comes from the Taiwanese phrase “麥擱騙,” meaning roughly “don’t be fooled again.”
MyGoPen began as a blog and LINE-based verification service before developing into a broader fact-checking website with a smart chatbot and one-on-one verification tools. The organization states that its mission is to protect the public from misinformation through fact-checking, fraud prevention, media literacy education, and ethical communication. Founder Charles Yeh has been identified in outside reporting as an engineer who started the project after encountering misinformation shared among family members. MyGoPen became an IFCN signatory in 2020 and is currently listed by IFCN as “In-Renewal.”

Funded by / Ownership
MyGoPen operates as a Taiwanese fact-checking organization and social enterprise. Ownership is not fully detailed on the website, though the project identifies founder Charles and describes its development from a volunteer effort into a more structured fact-checking operation. Revenue and support appear to come from private funding, service partnerships, platform collaborations, and public-interest misinformation literacy work. MyGoPen states that it has collaborated with platforms and organizations including Google, Meta, LINE, Yahoo, the National Police Agency’s 165 Anti-Fraud Team, Trend Micro anti-fraud programs, schools, community groups, and media-literacy partners. Outside analysis describes MyGoPen as evolving into a private company model with mixed revenue sources, including private funding and service partnerships.
Analysis / Bias
MyGoPen is Least Biased because its content focuses on verifying claims, debunking scams, correcting rumors, and improving public information literacy rather than promoting a political ideology. Its fact checks cover public policy, elections, health, science, social media rumors, scams, public welfare, and viral misinformation. The site states that neither its editors nor the website itself expresses a political stance and that discrepancies will be updated when official documents or facts change.
For example, [Incorrect] Is this what California looks like? Were real ballots recently thrown in the trash? debunks a recycled claim that California ballots were discarded in the trash. The article explains that the photos were empty envelopes from the 2018 election, not ballots, and cites sources including California officials, AP News, NBC News, Sonoma County, California election law, and reverse-image-search findings. It also identifies the role of a far-right source, Gateway Pundit, in spreading the older version of the claim.
Similarly, [Common Misunderstanding] Taipei Senior Citizen Card Undergoes Epic Evolution? checks a circulating claim about Taipei’s Senior Citizen Card points system. The article distinguishes accurate claims from incorrect details, cites Taipei City Government statements, media reports, city council questioning, and direct contact with the Taipei City Government Social Affairs Bureau. This demonstrates careful verification and nuanced conclusions rather than simple true/false labeling.
Overall, MyGoPen provides transparent fact-checking methods, source lists, official-document references, expert consultation, platform partnerships, and corrections/update language. It is also associated with IFCN standards, which supports a High factual rating. Some ownership and funding details could be more fully disclosed, but the site’s verification practices are strong.
