RIGHT-CENTER BIAS

These media sources are slight to moderately conservative in bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by appeals to emotion or stereotypes) to favor conservative causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information but may require further investigation. See all Right-Center sources.

  • Overall, we rate The Jewish Link as Right-Center biased due to its consistent promotion of Zionism, its editorial opposition to pro-Palestine political figures, and its use of right-leaning syndicated sources for international coverage. We rate it Mostly Factual because its reporting is generally accurate, transparent, and clearly distinguishes between news and opinion, though one-sided framing on Israel-related political issues and selective story emphasis prevent a High factual rating.

History

The Jewish Link launched in March 2013 as a community newspaper serving Bergen County, New Jersey, and has since expanded its coverage throughout New Jersey, New York City, Westchester County, and Connecticut. According to its About Us page, the publication prints more than 20,000 copies weekly and provides free home delivery to over 10,000 households, making it one of the largest weekly newspapers serving the observant Jewish community in the Tri-State area. The Jewish Link focuses on hyper-local community news, religious commentary, opinion columns, and features relevant to Orthodox and traditionally observant Jewish audiences, positioning itself as a forum for community dialogue while explicitly promoting Judaism and Zionism.

Funded by / Ownership

The Jewish Link is an independent publication funded primarily through advertising and subscriptions. It is distributed free of charge in many areas, with revenue generated from local and national advertisers and paid subscriptions. The publication reserves the right to refuse advertising that does not align with its standards and states that it does not endorse medical, nutritional, or kashrut-related claims made by advertisers.

Analysis / Bias

The Jewish Link operates primarily as a community-focused newspaper, but its editorial stance reflects a consistent pro-Israel and Zionist perspective that places it on the Right-Center of the political spectrum. Its local reporting, such as “Hatzolah of Middlesex County Ends Year With Gratitude Initiative”, is straightforward, non-political, and focused on community organizations and public service partnerships. Articles of this type are largely informational and show no evident partisan framing.

National and international coverage tends to rely on syndicated or wire-style reporting from sources such as JNS, as seen in “Trump Says He Would Support Israeli Strike on Iranian Missiles, Nuclear Sites”. This article largely reports direct statements from U.S. and Israeli leaders, along with Iranian responses, and is presented with minimal editorialization. However, reliance on right-leaning syndicated sources contributes to an overall Right-Center orientation in geopolitical coverage, particularly on Israel and Middle East security issues.

The publication’s editorial bias is most evident in its opinion content. In “The Importance of Your Vote for NYC Mayor and NJ Governor”, the editorial staff explicitly urges readers not to support Zohran Mamdani for New York City mayor, accusing him of being hostile to Israel and the Jewish community. While clearly labeled as an editorial, the language used is strongly ideological and reflects a firm pro-Israel political stance. Despite this, the outlet maintains a clear separation between news reporting and opinion, and its letters-to-the-editor policy emphasizes that published opinions do not necessarily reflect the editors’ views.
