Analysis / Bias

The Borowitz Report publishes political satire and commentary that overwhelmingly targets Donald Trump, Republican politicians, conservative policies, and right-leaning political figures. The publication clearly presents itself as humor and satire rather than conventional news reporting.

For example, in Trump’s Clown Diplomacy, Borowitz mocks Trump administration appointments and U.S. foreign policy using strongly derogatory language. In Trump Will Lose His War on Laughter, he compares Trump’s response to political comedy with authoritarian leaders who fear ridicule.

Other examples include Don the Dunce Has Learned Nothing, which sharply attacks Trump’s intelligence and foreign policy, and Trump’s Racism Isn’t News, which argues that Trump has demonstrated racist behavior for decades.

The publication also includes explicitly anti-Trump political commentary beyond traditional satire. In A New Declaration of Independence from Tyranny, Borowitz characterizes Trump as a tyrant and calls for political accountability while endorsing progressive goals involving racial equality, gender equality, and social justice.

Although Republicans and Donald Trump are the dominant targets, The Borowitz Report occasionally features guest humorists and broader cultural or political satire. Overall, its story selection, targets, and political commentary consistently favor progressive and Democratic-aligned perspectives.

Overall, we rate The Borowitz Report Left Biased based on satire and political commentary that overwhelmingly targets conservatives and favors progressive perspectives. We rate it as a Satire source because its content is clearly presented as humor rather than factual news reporting. (D. Van Zandt 1/24/2018) Updated (09/14/2026)
