Fact Check Search

Media Bias Fact Check selects and publishes fact checks from around the world. We only utilize fact-checkers that are either a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) or have been verified as credible by MBFC. Further, we review each fact check for accuracy before publishing. We fact-check the fact-checkers and let you know their bias. When appropriate, we explain the rating and/or offer our own rating if we disagree with the fact-checker. (D. Van Zandt)

LIE
Claim by Donald Trump (R): Washington, D.C., has 41 homicides per 100,000 people, “No. 1 that we can find anywhere in the world.”

PolitiFact rating: False (Trump used outdated 2023 data; D.C.’s homicide rate dropped in 2024 and is not the highest in the world. In 2023, at least 49 cities — including three capitals — had higher rates.)

How Does Washington, D.C.’s Homicide Rate Compare With Other Countries?

TRUE Claim via Social Media: A July 2025 survey found that 47% of Republican voters said they’d still support Donald Trump even if he were officially implicated in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex crimes.

Snopes rating: True (A late July 2025 Leger poll found that 47% of Republican respondents said such a revelation would not affect their vote for Trump, reflecting voter loyalty more than approval of the alleged actions.)

Survey Found 47% of Republicans Would Still Vote for Trump Even If Implicated in Epstein’s Crimes

FALSE Claim via Social Media: “Home Depot signed a deal that pays them $250 million with DHS, allowing ICE agents to stake out their parking lots and arrest immigrants.”

PolitiFact rating: False (There is no such contract; both Home Depot and DHS deny the claim, and public contract records show no such deal exists.)

Home Depot Doesn’t Have a $250M Government Deal Allowing for Immigration Arrests

FALSE (International: Australia): Defence minister announced Australia will halt arms exports to Israel.

AAP rating: False (Richard Marles has made no such statement, and the government says Australia does not export arms to Israel.)
