President Donald Trump called CNN “fake news” and criticized NBC during a press conference held Friday along with British Prime Minister Theresa May.
Trump refused to answer a question from CNN’s Jim Acosta.
“No, no,” Trump said as Acosta attempted to ask him a question. “CNN is fake news, I don’t take questions — I don’t take questions from CNN.” Trump added: “John Roberts of Fox — let’s go to a real network.”
Roberts was criticized by some on social media after the exchange for not defending CNN.
Acosta later shouted a question to the president as he left the podium, asking if he would tell Russian President Vladimir Putin to keep away from US elections. “Yes,” Trump replied.
Trump also criticized NBC on Friday, telling reporter Kristen Welker after she asked a question about Russia: “Of course that’s coming from NBC, which is possibly worse than CNN.”
