RIGHT-CENTER BIAS

These media sources are slight to moderately conservative in bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by appealing to emotion or stereotypes) to favor conservative causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information but may require further investigation. See all Right-Center sources.

  • Overall, we rate The National Press Right-Center Biased based on its Sinclair ownership, center-right media partnerships, conservative host background, and mildly government-skeptical story selection, balanced by coverage of issues from across the political spectrum. We rate it High for factual reporting based on strong local sourcing, careful attribution, clear treatment of uncertainty, and a clean fact-check record, while noting that the outlet is too new for a long-term reliability assessment.

History

The National Press is a national digital news publication that Sinclair, Inc. launched in October 2026 in partnership with New Media, a digital media company founded by former journalists and producers from The Free Press. According to its About page, the publication draws on reporting from more than 1,200 local journalists working across more than 60 U.S. markets.

Journalist and broadcaster Lyndsay Keith leads the publication on air and produces a weekday morning program, a weekly long-form report, and a weekly debate program. Keith previously co-hosted Spicer & Co. on Newsmax and earlier worked in Republican political communications.

Funded by / Ownership

The National Press is operated through a partnership between Sinclair, Inc. and New Media. Sinclair supplies reporting from its local television newsrooms, while New Media helps produce and develop the subscription product. New Media receives a monthly production fee and a share of subscription revenue.

The publication operates on Substack with free and paid subscription tiers and distributes programming through YouTube, podcast networks, and social platforms.

Analysis / Bias

The National Press currently shows a mild Right-Center tendency rather than an overt partisan approach. Sinclair has historically faced criticism for conservative-leaning national programming, while New Media was founded by veterans of The Free Press, a publication associated with heterodox and center-right audiences. Host Lyndsay Keith also has a background in Republican political communications and conservative media.

Some early story selection reflects conservative or government-skeptical themes. For example, Why Schools Still Get Paid Even When Students Fail asks whether increased public-school spending improves academic outcomes. However, other coverage focuses on environmental concerns, juvenile sentencing reform, public health, AI regulation, and consumer protection.

The early coverage’s factual standards are strong. For example, Are Clear Backpacks Making Schools Safer or Creating a False Sense of Security? explicitly warns that the absence of later weapons incidents does not prove the backpack policy caused the improvement. Likewise, SpaceX Debris Is Washing Ashore. Who’s Responsible? carefully distinguishes environmental concerns from scientific evidence and notes when claimed harms have not been independently established.

Because The National Press launched only in October 2026, its political orientation and long-term factual reliability remain preliminary and should be reevaluated as its archive grows.
