History

Founded in 1878, The Press-Enterprise is a paid daily newspaper published by MediaNews Group that serves the Inland Empire in Southern California. Headquartered in downtown Riverside, California, it is the primary newspaper for Riverside County, with a heavy penetration into neighboring San Bernardino County. The current editor is Frank Pine.

The Press-Enterprise is owned by MediaNews Group which owns nearly 100 newspapers across the USA. MediaNews Group is in turn owned by Alden Global Capital LLC, a New York-Based Hedge Fund, which has been described as “Vulture Capitalists” by former Denver Post writers for the cuts made to newsrooms. Revenue is derived through subscription fees and advertising.

In review, The Press-Enterprise reports news through reporters with minimal bias such as this After nearly 7-hour session, Riverside County supervisors vote to lift 3 coronavirus health orders. National and international news is covered through the Associated Press.

Editorially, the Riverside Press-Enterprise has endorsed Republican Presidential candidates since 2000, however, in 2016 they did not endorse either candidate. A review of op-eds reveals slightly more favor the right. In general, the news is reported factually and with a right-leaning editorial bias.
