Analysis / Bias

The New Inquiry publishes articles on a wide range of social issues, politics, and culture, often from an intellectual and critical perspective. Articles and headlines rely on emotional wording that favors a progressive perspective, such as this FREE PALESTINE. STOP COP CITY. This well-written piece discusses the Stop Cop City movement’s efforts to prevent the development of a police mega-training center, known as Cop City, in part of the Welaunee Forest in South Dekalb County, Georgia. Despite facing resistance from the Atlanta Police Department and the federal government, the movement continues its fight against the project, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian struggle and aiming to challenge systems of oppression. Both of these perspectives favor the left.

Editorially, stories routinely favor the left and denigrate the right like this A Conspiracy Between the Far-Right and the #J20 Prosecutions. Other stories favor workers’ rights, social justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and concern for climate change. Finally, the New Inquiry strongly supports Palestine with writings from the Palestinian Youth Movement.

In general, The New Inquiry promotes strongly left-biased opinions and is reasonably fact-based; however, bias by omission is common as they focus on one side of issues.
