History

The Asbury Park Press or APP is a daily newspaper founded in 1879. It was founded by Dr. Hugh S. Kinmonth. In 1895, his nephew J. Lyle Kinmouth purchased the paper. In 1997 Gannett acquired The Asbury Park Press as part of the acquisition of New Jersey Press, Inc. The Asbury Park Press is headquartered in New Jersey and is a part of the USA Today Network.
