History

Look Ahead America (LAA) is a right-wing political organization founded in 2017 by Matt Braynard, the former Director of Data and Strategy for Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. According to their About page, LAA is a nonprofit focused on registering, educating, and turning out “disaffected patriotic Americans” — a phrase they use to describe rural and blue-collar voters. Their stated mission is to “revive patriotism” and “advance America First policies,” often positioning themselves against what they perceive as left-wing cultural and political dominance. They are based in Washington, DC.

Funded by / Ownership

Look Ahead America operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and claims to be grassroots-funded. It is led by Matt Braynard and other right-wing political strategists, detailed on their leadership page. No major institutional donors are publicly disclosed, limiting transparency regarding its financial backing.

Analysis / Bias

Look Ahead America promotes an extreme right-wing ideological platform, often engaging in conspiracy theories, particularly related to the 2020 election. The group has been one of the more prominent organizations promoting the false narrative that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, though they attempt to couch these claims in language of “election integrity.”

The organization openly refers to those arrested for participating in the January 6th Capitol attack as “political prisoners,” framing their actions as patriotic rather than criminal. They maintain a January 6th arrestee database, offering support for individuals convicted or charged in connection with the insurrection. This rhetoric mirrors broader extremist talking points minimizing or excusing the violence of January 6th.

Look Ahead America further exhibits highly partisan framing, openly embracing combative language such as in their “Beating the Left” training series, which teaches activists how to “defeat the left” through political organizing. Praise for Donald Trump and “America First” policies is pervasive throughout their site and communications.

While LAA does publish occasional claims about voter registration drives and civic engagement that could be fact-based, the overwhelming presence of conspiratorial election claims, distorted narratives about January 6th, and constant adversarial framing against political opponents heavily compromises the credibility of the organization. Sourcing is minimal or internal, with few hyperlinks to independent, verifiable evidence.

Failed Fact Checks

  • There are no formal third-party fact checks on Look Ahead America directly, but many of the narratives they amplify (such as widespread 2020 election fraud and the political prisoner status of January 6th rioters) have been widely debunked by fact-checkers and official investigations.

Overall, we rate Look Ahead America as Far Right Biased based on consistent promotion of election fraud conspiracies, glorification of January 6th rioters, and extreme partisan activism. We rate them as Questionable and Low for factual reporting due to reliance on false narratives, poor sourcing, and their role in promoting widespread misinformation about the 2020 U.S. presidential election and its aftermath.
