Funded by / Ownership

Ground Game LA, a 501(c)4 tax-exempt organization, owns and publishes Knock-LA. Ground Game LA endorses Democratic candidates in Los Angles County. Revenue is derived through reader donations via Patreon and ActBlue, which raises money for Democratic political candidates on a local and national level. Ground Game also lacks transparency as they do not disclose donors.

Analysis / Bias

Knock-LA reports news from Los Angeles County covering government policy, elections, and local news from a progressive-liberal perspective. Articles and headlines use strongly loaded emotional language such as this City Forcibly Routes Taxpayer Money to LASD Nonprofit. This story, like most reviewed, relies on first-hand accounts and credible media sources such as Vice, CBS News, and the LA Times.

Editorially, all stories favor the progressive left, such as this LASD Deputies Violently Arrest Disabled Transgender Woman in West Hollywood. The site frequently publishes stories highlighting police abuses, racism, immigration, and inequality. They also report positively on Democratic candidates they support, such as The Knock LA Los Angeles Progressive Voter Guide for the November 2022 Midterm Election. Finally, although they have a dedicated opinion section, most news articles reviewed contained left biased opinions.

In general, Knock-LA is fact-based in reporting; however, its lack of disclosure that they are a progressive liberal site that advocates and endorses liberal candidates renders them misleading and earns them a mostly factual and medium credibility rating.
