Analysis / Bias

FanSided covers various topics, including sports, entertainment, and occasionally politics. The site tends to be fan-centered, which can introduce a bias toward popular or sensational issues. For example, an article titled “Is Tom Brady a Republican, a Trump supporter, or Democrat?” explores Tom Brady’s political affiliations, focusing on public curiosity and media portrayals of his political stance characterized by a speculative approach. The tone is informal, blending factual events with interpretations of Brady’s political stance. The article uses Brady’s actions and public statements to infer his political leanings, noting the ambiguity and public curiosity surrounding his political affiliation. Regarding the source, the article cites The Daily Beast and includes circular references.

Another article, “Patrick Mahomes has the perfect answer for fans against BLM movement,” discusses Patrick Mahomes’ response to the Black Lives Matter movement and racial justice issues. The article supports Mahomes’ advocacy and addresses the broader context of racial injustices, indicating a lean toward progressive viewpoints. The article references social media posts.

In general, FanSided leans toward left-center bias, particularly evident in its progressive perspectives in articles covering social and political issues. However, due to its tendency to be sensational at times, it would be more appropriate to describe their reporting as Mixed. Sensational reporting can sometimes sacrifice factual accuracy for dramatic effect and employs circular referencing. Circular referencing can create a closed system where the same data circulates without fresh input, potentially affecting the reliability of information.
