Founded in 2001 by the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), BlackPressUSA publishes news and opinion content from member publications of the National Newspaper Publishers Association, including the New York Amsterdam News, the St. Louis American, and the Afro-American in Baltimore. They also publish original content by staff writers.
The website features a tagline that reads “The Voice of the Black Community.”

The National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) owns and publishes BlackPressUSA. The NNPA is a Washington DC-based nonprofit that publishes more than 200 African-American-owned local papers. Advertising generates revenue for BlackPressUSA.

BlackPressUSA publishes news and opinion content from other NNPA member publications and original content by staff. Many articles feature profiles on African-American leaders and entrepreneurs. News content is typically low-biased, such as this Snoop Dogg Buys Iconic Death Row Records Label. Stories rely on credible sourcing such as NBC News, The Washington Post, and Associated Press.
Editorially, they properly label opinion content under their commentary section.
