Fact Check Search

Media Bias Fact Check selects and publishes fact checks from around the world. We only utilize fact-checkers that are either a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) or have been verified as credible by MBFC. Further, we review each fact check for accuracy before publishing. We fact-check the fact-checkers and let you know their bias. When appropriate, we explain the rating and/or offer our own rating if we disagree with the fact-checker. (D. Van Zandt)

TRUE Claim via Social Media: In December 2025, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., repealed a rule that required nurses to be present around the clock in long-term care facilities.

Snopes.com rating: True (The rule for staffing standards in long-term care facilities (which includes skilled nursing facilities) requiring registered nurses to be present at all times — announced during the administration of Democratic former President Joe Biden — had not yet gone into effect and had met several legal setbacks before the Trump administration announced the repeal.)

BLATANT
LIE
Claim by Donald Trump (R): Each U.S. boat strike off the coast of Venezuela saves 25,000 people.

PolitiFact rating: False (The administration has provided no evidence about the quantity or type of drugs on the targeted vessels, making the claim unverifiable; the implied death toll would dwarf annual U.S. overdose deaths.)

Donald Trump Rating

MISLEADING Claim by FDA official Tracy Beth Høeg: The U.S. is an international outlier giving 72 vaccine doses to children.

FactCheck.org rating: Misleading (The count inflates U.S. totals by separately counting combination vaccines and annual flu and COVID-19 shots while minimizing comparable doses in other countries.)

Trump, FDA Make Misleading International Vaccine Schedule Comparisons

FALSE Claim by Donald Trump (R): Democrats handed him “the worst inflation in the history of our country,” and prices are now “falling rapidly.”

Associated Press rating: False (Inflation peaked at 9.1% in 2022, not the highest in U.S. history, and current inflation rates remain around 3%, roughly where they were when Trump took office, not rapidly falling.)

FACT FOCUS: Trump’s glowing account of progress is at odds with his government’s own stats

FALSE (International: Australia): New driving laws are being introduced in Victoria from January 1, 2026.

AAP rating: False (No changes to Victorian driving laws are being introduced from that date.)
