More than 75,000 digital subscribers have canceled their subscriptions to The Washington Post since owner Jeff Bezos announced plans to reshape the paper’s opinion section to align with libertarian ideals. Nevada Supreme Court Reverses Ruling Against Las Vegas Review-Journal in Free Speech Case

The Nevada Supreme Court has overturned a lower court ruling against the Las Vegas Review-Journal in a free speech case involving photos and videos of law enforcement officers. The lawsuit stemmed from a 2023 article on excessive overtime pay for Henderson Detention Center officers. The Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers argued that the paper violated the Peace Officer Bill of Rights by publishing officers’ images without consent. The lower court initially ruled the association’s claims were outside the scope of Nevada’s anti-SLAPP law, but the state Supreme Court disagreed, ordering further review of whether the lawsuit was based on a protected, good-faith communication.
