Haslam hosts and executive produces the program through Matt Haslam Productions, LLC. The website publishes LGBTQ educational material, political commentary, videos, resources, and online courses.

Powered By Rainbows openly advocates for LGBTQ rights and progressive social policies while publishing strongly negative commentary about Donald Trump, Republicans, Christian nationalism, and conservative religious organizations.

For example, What’s Inside Trump’s Head? uses highly loaded and insulting language throughout while portraying Trump and his supporters negatively. Although the article contains numerous links, factual information is frequently combined with speculation, exaggeration, and unsupported conclusions.

Accuracy problems are more substantial in historical and educational content. In Jesus Was Gay, Haslam presents Jesus’ homosexuality as established fact despite historians lacking reliable evidence regarding Jesus’ sexual orientation. The article also makes unsupported claims that most Romans were openly bisexual, interprets the Greek word pais primarily as “boy-lover,” and presents speculative interpretations of biblical passages as historical evidence.

The article also claims homosexuality was absent from the Bible until a mistranslation in 1946. While the English word “homosexual” first appeared in the Revised Standard Version in 1946, the meaning of the underlying Greek passages and their relationship to same-sex behavior remain subjects of extensive scholarly debate; the site’s categorical presentation oversimplifies this history.

Similar problems appear in Nazis in America. The article contains accurate information about Nazi ideology, American white supremacy, Operation Paperclip, and Charles Lindbergh’s antisemitism and isolationism, but mixes these facts with significant errors and unsupported connections. For example, it claims Lindbergh’s Spirit of St. Louis was named after the MS St. Louis. In fact, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum documents that the aircraft was named in honor of the St. Louis businessmen who financed his flight.

The article further connects the 2017 Charlottesville Unite the Right rally directly to support for Charleston murderer Dylann Roof and makes several speculative historical connections without adequate evidence. The extensive linking gives the appearance of strong sourcing, but many cited sources do not support the broader conclusions drawn from them.

Politically, the site is strongly progressive on LGBTQ rights, racial issues, abortion, immigration, church-state separation, and social equality. Its rhetoric and story selection consistently favor the left, while opposing perspectives receive little meaningful representation.
