Former Trump campaign aide Papadopoulos sentenced to 14 days in jail for lying to FBI in Mueller probe

The man whose boozy conversation with a diplomat may have launched the federal government’s investigation into Russian election interference was sentenced Friday to 14 days in jail for lying to the FBI. George Papadopoulos, a foreign policy adviser on Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, pleaded guilty last October to making a false statement when the FBI interviewed him in January 2017.

His attorneys sought leniency for their client Friday by claiming that Trump calling special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe a “witch hunt” and “fake news” prompted their client to lie.

  1. I’m skeptical of anything coming from NBC since they (NBC/MSNBC) essentially became mouthpieces for the Clinton wing since the ’90s. The entire anti-Russian meme began after the election, when the Clinton wing weirdly used Russia as their excuse for defeat.

    It is fine to be skeptical, but when reporting the news such as being sentenced to 14 days in jail there isn’t much to question as it is public record.
