Trump vs. Amazon – USPS Task Force

By Kenneth White

Countless American businesses that rely on the United States Postal Service could get caught in the crossfire, according to Business Insider, as President Trump creates a task force to study the financial difficulties of the beleaguered postal service. Trump’s order stated that the USPS had lost $65 billion since the Great Recession and needed restructuring.

The USPS reported a net loss of $2.7 billion on $69.6 billion in revenue alone in 2017. Citicorp estimates that raising prices could cost Amazon billions of dollars in shipping fees, but the price changes will likely affect businesses across the U.S.

Another angle on the story comes from Cheatsheet.com arguing that Trump has singled out Amazon for a different reason; The Washington Post. In 2013 the CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, purchased the paper and it’s speculated that Trump’s antagonism for Amazon stems from the negative coverage he has received.
