Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner has lifted a number of holds on Department of Justice nominations in light of a promise from President Trump in a Wednesday night phone call, relating that Trump will support a “…federalism-based legislative solution to fix states’ rights issues once and for all,” Gardner said in a statement. The White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders has confirmed this was accurate.
Sen. Gardner has been in a ‘standoff’ with Jeff Sessions for his stance on aggressively prosecuting marijuana offenses and although the two men have been in talks about the issue, neither side has been willing to budge.
Colorado is reported to have a new ‘high’ in cannabis sales in 2017 – $1.51 billion, with $416 million going to the state in the form of taxes and fee revenues.
Analysts have cautioned that sales may plateau in the near future.
