A recent survey of federal employees by Government Executive found Clinton to have a very narrow lead over Donald Trump. Clinton’s 5 point lead over Trump is despite her overwhelming unfavorability rating with Federal workers that sits at 62%. Trump is viewed unfavorable by 64% of respondents and hence a factor for the small difference. Interestingly, 48% of respondents would prefer a 3rd term of President Obama over either Clinton or Trump. This is a significant number that reflects the negative attitudes toward the two presumptive candidates. Typically, Federal employees overwhelmingly favor the democratic candidate.
