History

TPUSA Faith is a project founded by conservative activist Charlie Kirk under the broader umbrella of Turning Point USA. Launched as a part of TPUSA’s effort to merge conservative political activism with religious principles, TPUSA Faith focuses specifically on promoting Christian values within political and civic life.

The organization advocates for religious liberty and often ties together themes of patriotism, Christianity, and right-wing political ideologies. Their events and messaging center around empowering faith leaders and communities to resist what they perceive as encroachments on religious freedom by secular and left-leaning ideologies.

Like TPUSA, TPUSA Faith’s broader mission is to engage and mobilize individuals to support conservative causes. Still, it does so, focusing on integrating Christian faith as a central pillar. The organization hosts events, forums, and media campaigns emphasizing conservative political views within the context of religious belief. The are based in Phoenix, Arizona.

Funded by / Ownership

TPUSA Faith operates as a branch of Turning Point USA, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The organization is funded through donations from individuals and conservative-aligned donors. Much of its funding mirrors that of its parent organization, supported by high-profile conservative donors and groups, including individuals connected to right-wing causes, such as the Koch network and the Mercer family. Additionally, TPUSA’s faith-based initiatives have received support from various evangelical and Christian conservative organizations, though the exact funding details are not transparent on the site.

According to the Poynter Institute, “Turning Point USA, which is a de facto super PAC for conservatives’ student government campaigns.” TPUSA also has connections to the Heartland Institute, a known source for dubious science concerning climate change.

Analysis / Bias

TPUSA Faith promotes a right-leaning conservative perspective, heavily intertwined with Christian evangelical values. Its content does not focus on hard news but promotes ideological and cultural narratives aligned with the Christian right and conservative political goals.

Examples of bias on TPUSA Faith’s website and social media include:

  • Religious Nationalism: The platform frequently emphasizes a connection between Christianity and American patriotism, often suggesting that conservative policies are divinely aligned with Christian teachings.
  • Political Messaging: The content criticizes left-leaning policies, including secularism, LGBTQ+ rights, and abortion, which are often portrayed as threats to religious liberty and moral order. For instance, articles and speeches often oppose progressive cultural movements, framing them as hostile to Christian values.
  • Loaded Language: The platform uses emotionally charged language when discussing issues such as freedom, tyranny, and religious persecution. For example, secular or leftist policies are often described as part of a larger agenda to “destroy faith” or undermine traditional Christian morals.

The site’s messaging is consistent with Turning Point USA’s broader political activism, but it incorporates religious rhetoric to appeal to conservative Christians. The overall presentation lacks balance and consistently favors a right-wing worldview.

Although TPUSA Faith itself does not frequently produce news or claims subject to fact-checking, its parent organization, Turning Point USA, has a history of promoting misleading or outright false claims. Many of these appear on social media or in speeches by key figures such as Charlie Kirk, the founder. Below are examples of failed fact checks associated with Turning Point USA:
