Bias: Pro-Syrian State, Propaganda
Notes: Syria News is a news and opinion website all about Syria and the current conflict. Syria News has an extreme Pro-Syrian State bias and is highly critical of all opposition. SN uses extreme loaded language to convey emotion against the opposition and often only presents one side of the story. We also could not find an “About” page nor any information on the authors that would give insight into their mission. We have purposely not rated this website for left or right bias because they consistently rail against both if they are opposed to the Syrian State. Another factor in placing this source in the questionable category is the use of self linking. Self linking is when you link to other pages on your own website rather than outside credible sources. Based on extreme state bias, poor sourcing, and lack of information on the website, we rate this source questionable. We are not stating the information is false, just that each article should be fact checked for accuracy. We also recognize there is a strong propaganda campaign against the Syrian State by the opposition and it can be difficult to determine where the truth lies. (5/24/2017)
