LEFT-CENTER BIAS

These media sources have a slight to moderate progressive/liberal bias.  They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor progressive/liberal causes.  These sources are generally trustworthy for information, but may require further investigation. See all Left-Center sources.

  • Overall, we rate Responsible Statecraft as Left-Center biased for its focus on non-interventionist policies and critical analyses of U.S. foreign policy spending. It is rated Mostly Factual rather than High due to occasional reliance on sources with mixed credibility and its selective emphasis on progressive, anti-interventionist viewpoints, which may limit the depth of countering perspectives in its coverage.

Analysis / Bias

Responsible Statecraft leans Left-Center, frequently critiquing U.S. military policy and emphasizing diplomatic solutions. Articles like “Popular YouTuber discovers how corrupt the Pentagon budget is” discuss Pentagon spending through the lens of a video by YouTuber Johnny Harris. In the video, Harris references Dr. Heidi Peltier, an expert affiliated with Brown University’s Costs of War Project, who provides credible analysis of defense contractor practices and the financial inefficiencies within U.S. military budgets. This reputable source supports the article’s critique of defense spending practices with credible academic insight.

However, some articles use less conventional sources. For example, in “What the return of the military draft would mean for the U.S.,” the author references Antiwar.com, rated as a factually Mixed source by Media Bias/Fact Check for inconsistent credibility. This mix of sources generally supports Responsible Statecraft’s critical stance on defense spending, though it may impact the overall reliability of certain articles.
