History

Realtid is a Swedish digital business and financial news publication based in Stockholm. The publication traces its origins to 2003 and launched online in 2004, focusing primarily on finance, investing, companies, law, macroeconomics, careers, and Swedish and international business news. It describes itself as an independent and politically unaffiliated news outlet serving investors, executives, and readers interested in business and financial markets.

In June 2024, Realtid’s media operations were acquired by Relevance Communication Nordic AB (RLVNC), which also operates Dagens PS and E55. In February 2026, Edvard Lundkvist was appointed Editor-in-Chief, while Mikael Gullström serves as responsible publisher. The company reported that Realtid recorded more than 25 million article reads during 2025.

Funded by / Ownership

Realtid is operated by Relevance Communication Nordic AB, a publicly traded Swedish media and advertising-technology company. RLVNC owns several digital media brands, including Realtid, Dagens PS, and E55, and its shares trade on the Nordic SME market.

The business is primarily supported through advertising, sponsored/native content, newsletters, and related commercial services rather than a reader paywall. Realtid clearly identifies its management, editorial leadership, contact information, business address, and parent company.

Analysis / Bias

Realtid generally reports business, economic, and political developments using neutral language and does not consistently favor Sweden’s political left or right. Its subject selection naturally reflects the interests of businesses, investors, and financial-market participants, producing a modest market-oriented economic perspective, but straight-news reporting generally attributes opinions to identifiable sources rather than adopting them editorially.

For example, Regeringen föll – så mycket pengar står nu på spel explains competing tax and economic proposals following the fall of Sweden’s government, presenting both the outgoing government’s tax reductions and opposition proposals for higher taxes without obvious partisan endorsement.

Similarly, Dimons skarpa varning: Bankskatt kan skada Storbritannien rejält reports JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon’s argument that higher banking taxes could hurt investment, reflecting the publication’s business-oriented focus. However, Realtid also published 120 miljonärer i öppet brev: Vi vill betala mer i skatt, straightforwardly presenting arguments from wealthy individuals favoring higher taxation and redistribution.

Factual reporting is generally strong. Articles commonly cite or summarize reporting from Reuters, AP, TT, BBC, Financial Times, government agencies, courts, company filings, and named industry experts. Realtid also participates in Sweden’s media-ethics system; in a 2022 complaint involving its investigation of a financial company, the Swedish Media Ethics Board found no grounds to censure the publication after reviewing its reporting and corrections.
