Founded by former federal Conservative staffer Jeff Ballingall, Ontario Proud started off as an anti-Liberal Facebook page at the height of the furor over Ontario’s hydro rates in February 2016 and has since amassed a very large following. According to Whois the website domain was purchased in January 2017.

Ontario Proud is a registered non-profit that is funded through donations. The website does not list who the owner of the site is, however, we do know Ontario Proud was founded by Jeff Ballingall. The website also does not list who their donors are and the amounts donated.

Analysis / Bias

For this review, we are only evaluating the content of their website and not social media. Ontario Proud generally publishes information that is opposed to liberal candidates and politics. There is the moderate use of loaded language in headlines such as this: Kathleen Wynne’s Nightmare Before Christmas. Ontario Proud mostly publishes videos, however, when reporting text-based news, they typically source appropriately.
