Fact Check: Did most of the decline in U.S. obesity since 2022 occur under Trump?

Media Bias Fact Check (MBFC) publishes daily vetted fact checks from verified IFCN-approved sources. Each claim is independently reviewed for accuracy and context.

Claimant: Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Claim: U.S. obesity rates have fallen about 7.3% since 2022, with most of the decline occurring during the Trump administration.

Rating: BLATANT LIE

Explanation: Gallup data do show an overall decline in adult obesity of roughly 7% to 8% from 2022 to 2026. However, about three-quarters of that decline occurred between 2022 and 2024, before Trump returned to office, so the claim that most of the decrease occurred during his administration is false.
