These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information, but may require further investigation. See all Left-Center sources.
Factual Reporting: HIGH
Notes: Launched in 2007, Newser is a news aggregation website that summarizes the news that it aggregates through the use of human editors. According to their about page: “Newser is a news curator with a kick. Our editors hand-pick the best stories from hundreds of US and international sources and summarize them into sharply written, easy-to-digest news briefs.”
The founder of the website is author Michael Wolff, who wrote Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.
In review, according to Newser 100, which is a list of the top 100 sources Newser’s editors most often cite, the Associated Press is Number 1 (at the time of review, 5/2/2018) with 32,881 stories followed by the New York Times, with 12,742 stories. Others in the top 10 are the Washington Post, Reuters, LA times, BBC, and CNN. In reviewing the entire list, there are sources taken from both the left and right, but the majority come from left-leaning sources. Therefore we rate Newser Left-Center biased based on the use of mostly left-leaning sources and High for factual reporting due to the high credibility of the sources used. (M. Huitsing 5/2/2018)
