Coverage focuses on the legislature, the environment, and how national policy affects the states. Articles and headlines promote liberal perspectives through moderate, loaded language University of Missouri bows to Republican pressure and eliminates campus DEI division.

They properly source, linking to credible sources such as whitehouse.gov, Washington Post, Politico, Center for Responsive Politics (Open Secrets), and bls.gov (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).

Editorially, opinion pieces favor the left, such as this ‘Extremely low pay’ cited at U.S. Senate hearing as prime reason for teacher shortage. On the issues, News from the States promotes LGBT equality and has concerns about climate change. Finally, they frequently report negatively on Republican politicians, such as this How 9 mistakenly discarded ballots in Luzerne County fueled Trump’s 2020 lies about elections. The News from the States generally reports news factually; however, story selection and op-eds strongly favor a progressive/liberal perspective.
