The New York Daily News, officially titled Daily News, is an American newspaper based in New York City. As of May 2016, it was the ninth-most widely circulated daily newspaper in the United States. However, it has since dropped out of the top 10. It was founded in 1919 and was the first U.S. daily printed in tabloid format. The editor was Jim Rich until July 23, 2018, when it was announced he was being let go along with 50% of the editorial staff. The owner of the paper, Tronc, replaced Jim Rich with Robert York, who is currently the editor and publisher of The Morning Call, a Tronc-owned daily newspaper in Allentown, Pa.

Analysis / Bias
The New York Daily News is well known for sensational headlines that use strong loaded words such as this: Cuomo slams NYCHA, says agency ‘lied’ about handling tenant repair requests. The Daily News primarily focuses on New York City news and produces hard-hitting journalism. New York Times journalist Alan Feuer said the Daily News focuses heavily on “deep sourcing and doorstep reporting”, providing city-centered “crime reportage and hard-hitting coverage of public issues.” Generally, the Daily News is well sourced to credible information.
Editorially, the Daily News leans left but has endorsed Republican George Bush for President as well as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in 2016.
