Factual Reporting: HIGH

Founded in 2009, Mother Nature Network (MNN) is a website with news and information related to sustainability, health, lifestyle, technology, money, food, home, and family. According to their about page “Mother Nature Network is the world’s most visited online network for news and information related to the environment and responsible living.” Time Magazine has called them the “Green CNN.”

In review, Mother Nature Network covers a variety of topics with the primary focus on environmental issues such as climate change. Their story selection and political bias typically favor the left. MNN occasionally uses moderately loaded language in their headlines such as: Why this tax bill is class warfare, not generational warfare. Mother Nature Network always properly sources its information to either mainstream media sources or scientific journals. A factual search reveals they have not failed a fact check.

Overall, we rate Mother Nature Network strongly Left-Center biased based on story selection and editorial positions that favor the left and High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing. (D. Van Zandt 4/29/2018)
