Funded by / Ownership
IVP is structured as a nonprofit organization and discloses its support through donations and monthly membership programs, such as The Existence. Financial details are available on their Financials page. IVP is linked to FIVE, which provides educational work, and both are members of the National Association of Nonpartisan Reformers. Revenue comes primarily from contributions, grants, and donor support.
Analysis / Bias
IVP focuses on structural election reform. It advocates for open primaries, top-five primaries with ranked choice voting, and court challenges against restrictive election laws (Our Work: Reform Elections, Battle in Court).
Its language frames parties as barriers. “Manipulated districts. Corrupt campaign finance laws. Disenfranchised voters.” and positions independents as excluded. However, coverage is issue-focused rather than ideologically partisan, and IVN.us publishes a range of perspectives. IVP content shows a mild progressive lean in its emphasis on inclusion and participation, but avoids alignment with Democratic or Republican agendas.
