History

Founded in 2018 and based in Toronto, the Canadian Anti-Hate Network is an independent nonprofit run by a team of experts on countering hate and hate crimes. Their stated aim is to “monitor, research and counter hate groups by providing education, information, and resources. Antihate.ca offer practical solutions for countering hate movements.”

The Canadian Anti-Hate Network is a nonprofit organization funded through donations, crowdfunding, and a $268,400 grant from the Canadian Government’s Anti-Racism Action program. Further, they report a relationship with the Southern Poverty Law Center. The organization is run by a six-person board consisting of Chair Bernie Farber and Executive Director Evan Balgord.
