Bullshido – Bias and Credibility

History

Founded in 2002, Bullshido is a news, commentary, podcast, and discussion website with the tagline “The Art of Fighting BS.” According to its About page, the site originated as an online community of martial artists dedicated to exposing fraudulent martial arts claims, ineffective techniques, fake credentials, and pseudoscience.

As the site developed, its coverage expanded beyond martial arts to include science, public health, misinformation, scams, critical thinking, politics, extremism, technology, and social issues. Bullshido also operates an active discussion forum and produces The Art of Fighting BS podcast, featuring discussions with martial artists, scientists, academics, and other guests.

Bullshido is associated with Creative Combat, LLC and longtime operator Neal Fletcher, who writes under the name “Phrost.” Revenue is generated through supporting memberships, branded merchandise, podcast-related income, and other reader-supported activities. Bullshido’s forums also offer paid supporting memberships that help offset the cost of operating the site.

Bullshido began primarily as an evidence-based martial arts and pseudoscience debunking website, and much of its content continues to focus on scams, critical thinking, science, misinformation, and martial arts culture. The site frequently uses sarcasm, profanity, and deliberately provocative language, but generally supports factual claims with evidence and clearly distinguishes commentary from straight reporting.

In recent years, Bullshido has published substantially more political and social commentary. For example, Shutting Off the Martial Arts to Fascism Pipeline criticizes white nationalism, Christian nationalism, misogyny, and homophobia within martial arts culture while explicitly contrasting these ideologies with liberal values. The article relies on reporting and research from organizations such as the Southern Poverty Law Center while presenting a clear editorial position.

Likewise, the podcast episode Empathy for the MAGA sharply criticizes Donald Trump and several prominent right-wing personalities, including Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, Nick Fuentes, and Joe Rogan. Bullshido also maintains a strong pro-science orientation.
