Media Bias Fact Check selects and publishes fact checks from around the world. We only utilize fact-checkers that are either a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) or have been verified as credible by MBFC. Further, we review each fact check for accuracy before publishing. We fact-check the fact-checkers and let you know their bias. When appropriate, we explain the rating and/or offer our own rating if we disagree with the fact-checker. (D. Van Zandt)

Claim by theblaze.com: The FBI had 274 plainclothes agents embedded in the crowd at Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.
Lead Stories rating: False (Many of 274 FBI agents documented in a report were part of the law enforcement response after the crowd stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The agents were not undercover nor were they embedded in the crowd. The article making the claim appears to be referencing a report showing FBI agents were responding to the crowds at the Capitol and reports of explosives being found, not that they were in the crowd before the riots began. The words “plainclothes” and “undercover” do not appear in the report.) |
| MISLEADING | Claim by Donald Trump (R): Wind energy is “the most expensive energy ever conceived” and useless when the wind doesn’t blow.
FactCheck.org rating: Misleading (Onshore wind is one of the cheapest energy sources, comparable or cheaper than gas or coal; intermittency is managed because wind is only one part of the grid.) |
| BLATANT LIE |
Claim via Social Media: There is evidence Erika Kirk was a recruiter for Jeffrey Epstein and she had her husband, Charlie Kirk, killed to shut him up about it.
Lead Stories rating: False (The claim appears to be based on another false claim that Erika Kirk operated a charity in Romania that was used for trafficking orphaned children internationally.) |
| FALSE | (International: United Kingdom): Keir Starmer has announced a policy limiting UK citizens to two flights per year from October 2025.
Full Fact rating: False (No such policy has been announced, and the social media videos claiming this feature inauthentic audio with old footage of Mr. Starmer.) |
