Fact Check Search

Media Bias Fact Check selects and publishes fact checks from around the world. We only utilize fact-checkers that are either a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) or have been verified as credible by MBFC. Further, we review each fact check for accuracy before publishing. We fact-check the fact-checkers and let you know their bias. When appropriate, we explain the rating and/or offer our own rating if we disagree with the fact-checker. (D. Van Zandt)

BLATANT
LIE
Claim by Donald Trump (R): Bureau of Labor Statistics employment numbers “were rigged” when the agency revised them “down by almost 900,000 jobs” after the 2024 election.

PolitiFact rating: Pants on Fire (The Bureau of Labor Statistics announced an 818,000-job downward revision as part of a standard, annual review process in 2024. The agency didn’t keep this secret until after the November election. It released the data on Aug. 21, 2024 — on the eve of Kamala Harris’ nomination at the Democratic National Convention, and long before any American had cast a ballot. Trump complained about the revision the day it was released.)

Donald Trump Rating

MOSTLY
TRUE
Claim via Social Media: “Trump worked out a trillion dollar trade deal with Europe.”

The Ferret rating: Mostly True (Trump and EU leaders reached a political agreement involving U.S. energy exports and EU investment interest totaling over $1.35 trillion. However, the deal is not legally binding and remains subject to further negotiations.)

“Trump just worked out a trillion dollar trade deal with Europe”

FALSE Claim via Social Media: “Global ocean temperatures have been cooling, proving there is no global warming.”

Science Feedback rating: Inaccurate (Ocean temperatures have been rising at an accelerating rate; the claim relies on cherry-picked data from 2014–2022 that does not reflect long-term climate trends.)

No, the Ocean Is Not ‘Cooling’, Contrary to Viral Claims – It’s Been Warming at an Accelerating Rate

BLATANT
LIE
Claim via Social Media: Authentic video shows President Trump dancing on the White House roof on August 5, 2025.

Lead Stories rating: False (No Dancing. The video is fake.)

Fact Check: Video Showing President Trump Dancing On White House Roof Is Not Authentic

FALSE (International: Israel): Claim by Grok AI: A front-page photo of the Gaza famine is actually of refugees in Iraq in 2014.

AAP rating: False (X’s AI Grok incorrectly identified the image, which is indeed from Gaza in 2025.)

Grok gets it completely wrong with claims about Gaza girl photo
