Microsoft Bing Gains Market Share as Google’s Slightly Declines

Microsoft has reported notable growth in its Bing and Edge platforms, largely attributed to advancements in artificial intelligence, such as Copilot Search, and integrations with Meta AI. ComScore data shows Bing’s U.S. market share rose 2.1%, while StatCounter reported a global rise of 3.4%. In contrast, Google experienced a slight decline: 1.2% (ComScore) and 6.1% (StatCounter). Microsoft credits the gains to innovations in AI search and partnerships powering third-party chatbots. Spotify to Raise Subscription Prices Globally in September

Spotify will increase the monthly cost of its Premium Individual plan from €10.99 to €11.99 in multiple regions, including South Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific. The company cited continued innovation in features and product offerings as the reason for the hike, which takes effect in September. Anthropic Seeks Appeal in Copyright Lawsuit Over Pirated Books

AI company Anthropic is pushing for a federal appeals court to weigh in on whether using pirated books to train its language model, Claude, qualifies as fair use. While Judge William Alsup previously ruled that the use of legally purchased books was protected, he rejected fair use claims regarding pirated content. Anthropic argues that the distinction between authorized and unauthorized sources shouldn’t affect fair use status, especially given conflicting rulings in similar cases, such as one involving Meta.
